Day 3

Not much to report. Francesca and I took the kids to school this morning. Then I slept I think I have a bit more jet lag than I want to admit. Francesca went to work after directing the workers what to do in the kitchen; meanwhile they worked on the kitchen. Andrea has gone out of town for the week, so its just us and the kids in the chaos. The kitchen is just missing cabinet doors right now. Tomorrow they are supposed to come put them up. Then Wednesday I am supposed to get a glass door for my bathroom. And maybe eventually a wall for my bedroom. Jacob and I got to hang out a fair amount this afternoon. We went to the garden to play. Today Alicia had a play date and is still gone. Francesca thinks tomorrow I will be able to get into the language school near here. I'm really confused today about what all i'm doing for them. Right now I guess I seem to be more of a mother's assistant than anything. I expect in the next couple of weeks I will become more independent with the kids and in Milan. Maybe then it will make more sense. Everything is just kind of in turmoil here right now. It was a pretty uneventful day, well except that I had my first gelato. It was 1/2 pistachio and 1/2 chocolate. It was good but just kind of tasted like regular ice cream. I'm sure it is not the same but either way it was good.

I would think that you are going to have to work into taking care of the kids since you don't know any Italian or anything about Milan. Be patient. A language class sounds good.

I am trying to figure when I could find you online to chat. Since my free time is your midnight to 5am time, it is more complicated than China.

Take care.

Take your time, it'll all work out.
Love you, Linda

I just got caught up. How exciting everything sounds. Milan sounds a lot like Rome seemed to me. Ancient buildings with graffiti everywhere, and scaffolding on every-other building. Is a statue of Mary on most buildings and homes like she is in Rome? I loved that!
I must say, I thought gelato was the most delicious thing I ever tasted. I'm glad I didn't try it until my last day or I might not have eaten anything else.
Your room looks quaint!
Linde sometimes babysits for George here, with the mom, dad, and au pair all with her. We all thought it was weird, but that's the way they do it too.
Love you, Kay

you must have pretty weak taste buds or you had some bad gelato. there is definitely no comparison between it and ice cream. you need to go out and find some zuppa englese (hannah and i had it in many different cities and it was always great). it will change any of your thoughts of whether gelato and ice cream are the same.
