Election Day

It's election day and I am stuck in a foreign country. I am glued to CNN. How are things going there?

I went and voted. Lines were not long when I was there - maybe 10 minutes and that was with one woman who apparently registered to vote through a bogus website. Jane said the lines were even shorter when she was there. Dad went this morning before the polls opened and was 26th in line at 6:40 or so. Gwinnett seems to be having the biggest problem.

On another note the DeKalb School Board voted last night to eliminate 217 jobs, cut busing outside of neighborhood schools so that kids will be picked up and delivered to hubs, canceled the Jan pay raise and expect that next year all employees will have to take one unpaid day off a month. Ouch.

When I went to vote, the man commented on how many people with our address were voting (mom, dad, me). He asked if everyone in the house was going to vote, I said not quite - ones in Italy and ones in Athens. He said, "Erica got an absentee ballot"
So did you vote? Or is your ballot lost somewhere in the mail?

And mom is right, I did not have to wait in a single line. Only one other voter was there when I got there, and she was just finishing up on the machine when I walked through the doors.

My absentee ballot is lost somewhere which pisses me off because I really wanted to vote. But I guess it all worked out anyways.
